National Apprentice Promotion Scheme

It is implemented by Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship with an objective to provide apprenticeship training to over 50 lakh youngsters by 2019-20 in order to create more jobs.

  1. Scheme will be implemented by Director General of Training (DGT)
  2. Union Government will directly share 25% of the total stipend payable to an apprentice with employers
  3. Union Government will bear the 50% of the total expenditure incurred on providing basic training to an apprentice.
  4. The NAPS has been framed to meet objective of National Policy of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, 2015 which focuses on apprenticeship as one of the key components for creating skilled manpower in India.
